Black History Month: Diversity and Astronomy

October 14 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Did you know that Harriet Tubman’s song “Follow the Drinking Gourd” served as a star map guiding the enslaved to freedom? Join us for a talk by Stowstargazers, who will discuss diversity, ethnicity, and inclusion in stargazing and astronomy. The evening includes an exclusive guided walk through the reserve to view the night sky (weather permitting). Michael will share tips for urban stargazing, and while it’s not essential, feel free to bring binoculars and a red-light torch. Bundle up for this unique evening tour! Stowstargazers is dedicated to connecting people with nature and the wonders of the night sky.
